Attendance

Only two unexcused rehearsal absences (out of eleven rehearsals) are allowed and all performances are mandatory.  An unexcused absence is an absence from rehearsal after attending school the same day.  Appointments or sports commitments are not considered excused unless discussed and approved by Ms. Brightbill at least one day before rehearsal.  Being late to rehearsal three times is considered the equivalent of one unexcused absence.  Any combination of unexcused absences and tardies that totals three absences will result in dismissal from Descant.

This is a serious commitment for both you and your parents.  While you have been selected to sing in this honor choir, if you are not able to make this commitment there is a waiting list of students who will fill your spot.

Academic/Behavior

Being chosen for Descant is an honor and should be treated as such:
  • Academic success is a prerequisite for Descant membership. Not turning in homework, meeting AR goals or finishing classwork in a timely manner could result in removal from Descant.
  • Outstanding behavior is expected at all times. Loss of privileges including participation in Descant could occur for inappropriate behavior during the school day or during rehearsal.
  • Consistent attendance is a requirement for Descant membership.
