Fifth grade students chosen to sing with Music Express in fourth grade and who continue to show good musicianship, behavior and attendance have the option to sing in Allegro the first half of their fifth grade year. If there is space available, auditions will be held for additional singers who participate in school chorus or school band.
This select choir meets from September through December and performs varied repertoire, drawing from classical, sacred, and multicultural traditions, as well as from musical theatre and contemporary literature. Singers in Allegro (Italian for “brisk and lively”) demonstrate a practicing knowledge of singing posture, effective breathing for singing, and principles of diction and vowel modification.

Rehearsals
Students rehearse weekly from September through December on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at La Verne Heights Elementary School. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from rehearsals. Carpools are encouraged.
