Picture
Fifth grade students chosen to sing with Music in Motion in fourth grade and who continue to show good musicianship, behavior and attendance have the option to sing in Descant the first half of their fifth grade year.  If there is space available, auditions will be held for additional singers who participate in school chorus or school band.

This choir performs varied repertoire, drawing from the classical, sacred, and multicultural traditions, as well as from musical theatre and contemporary literature. Singers in Descant demonstrate a practicing knowledge of singing posture, effective breathing for singing, and principles of diction and vowel modification.  Students also perform more advanced choreography.

Descant will perform at the Winter Concert on December 19 at the Bonita Center for the Arts and at Disneyland
in December 2017 (date TBD).

REHEARSALS
Students rehearse weekly from September-December on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Ekstrand Elementary School Multipurpose Room.  Carpools are encouraged.
